Simply put, life at CRMS is fun! Students and teachers alike are passionate about the school and the community—everyone just enjoys being here. While it is challenging to capture the culture of a school in words, the activities outlined below embody many of the FUN aspects of life at CRMS.
All-School Meeting occurs once each week and is a time when the entire school community gathers in the iconic Barn building. Each meeting begins with a student musical performance, followed by a senior speech (each senior addresses the school community reflecting on their time at CRMS). Afterwards, there are designated times for accountability and community “thank yous,” along with any relevant announcements. All-School Meeting is a time that can be humorous, reflective, informational, and thoughtful, all in one space. Each meeting ends with the presentation of the “Braj Award,” which recognizes an outstanding member of the community, chosen by the previous week’s winner.
Coffee House is an all-school "talent show" where any CRMS student has the opportunity to perform. Although most performances are music oriented, all types and varieties of acts are welcome. Coffee House has become a wonderful CRMS tradition with two performances a year. It provides a unique opportunity for students to share their talent with the CRMS community in a tremendously fun and supportive environment.
The Oystermeister is a series of seven all-school athletic competitions throughout the year. Students, faculty, and staff compete in running, biking, rock-climbing, kayaking, swimming, alpine skiing, and Nordic skiing mini-competitions. Costumes are encouraged, and each participant pays $1 to go toward a charity designated by the student body. Results are recorded, and winners are recognized uniquely at the end-of-the-year awards ceremony. The entire community is welcome to participate, and everyone has fun!
Captain Wednesday, or “Miercoles” as it is affectionately called, is a time during the busy school week when students take a break from their studies and just have fun from 9-10 pm. Activities range from capture the flag to moonlight ice skating to indoor scooter races and everything in between!
Formal dinners take place one evening every other week and offer an opportunity for the community to get dressed up in their finest formal wear and enjoy a sit-down meal together. Students typically sit in their advisee groups for dinner. Each meal begins with a speech from a senior, after which student waiters serve a delicious meal. The Harvest Dinner in the fall is one of the most special formal dinners of the year—the meal that is served to the entire school community comes from the fitvandaag.comanic garden and is prepared with the help of the students themselves.
Weekend Rendezvous trips are an excellent opportunity for students to explore the beautiful outdoor playground via themed activities. Students have the chance three times a year to venture out on faculty-led outdoor adventures. Sample trips include Desert Escape in Moab, UT; Backcountry Skiing in Silverton, CO; and a winter hut trip near Aspen, CO.
